Beermad has now completed the third redesign since its original launch 12 years ago.
The new Beermad not only looks different, the entire site (as well as the underlying MySQL database and the Perl software that runs the site) has been completely redesigned so as to make it much more efficient and also to take advantage of advances in Web technology (such as JQuery) that have come along since it was last re-written (not to mention improvements in my technical skills). I've also attempted to make the site friendlier towards mobile devices - the new design means I'll be able to improve mobile functionality in the future.
The entire site has been rebuilt using HTML5 and CSS3, the most up-to-date versions of the Web design mark-up languages. This means that it will look at its best if you're using a modern browser (such as Firefox 4 (and higher) or Chrome). Some design features may only become visible with future release of your browser, as they're all still working towards full HTML5 support. The site should still be usable with slightly older browsers (such as Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3). It almost certainly won't work if you're using very out-dated browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 (which is over ten years old, and I have no intention of wasting time trying to support it).
A few less-used or maintenance-heavy features have been dropped (apologies if you're one of the few people who found those useful), but most of the site's functionality remains, mostly with an improved design. Unfortunately I've had to drop the ability to see if beers are known to be suitable for vegans, vegetarians or people with coeliac disease due to this part of the original database having become corrupted. The same also goes for organic beers.

Although I've spent a lot of time checking that everything's working OK, it's always possible something's slipped past me. If you find anything that doesn't seem to be working right, please feel free to let me know and I'll try to fix it. Though not if it's a problem with a very outdated browser such as Internet Explorer 7 or older which I no longer support.
